Everyone is Welcome.
The Iyengar Yoga method is internationally respected for its vigorous style and sophisticated understanding of yoga.
This methodical and sequential style of Yoga will gradually awaken the body-intelligence and enable you to gain strength, co-ordination, agility and stability.
This 4 week Introductory course will introduce all foundation postures that can be safely practiced by beginners to Iyengar Yoga.
Each participant will learn how to apply basic instructions and feel progressive in practice.
Also this course is ideal for those of you who already practice yoga and wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of this vast subject.
“It is so important to return again and again to the foundation postures and yogic principles. This is the way you will be inspired to continually seek and make progress in practice” says Sue.
“Returning to the basics after years of practice can be such a revelation.”
In each class we will explore yoga asana (postures) and the philosophical truths that support a deeper understanding of why Yoga is so powerful and so popular.
Firstly the shape of each posture is studied, then details are gradually incorporated to make the practitioner more alert. Physical and mental health is built up slowly through attention to the details of alignment and precision.
This course creates a firm foundation from which you can confidently pursue a practice of Iyengar Yoga and/or attend general classes of other styles of yoga offered at Spiritual Heart Yoga Center.
In 1990 Sue Darling took her first yoga class and since has never looked back. In 1993 Sue found her greatest inspiration and direction for her yogic potential when she met BKS Iyengar teachings. In 1995 she started a three year Teachers Training program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles.
Sue became a certified Iyengar teacher in 1998 and has since studied with BKS Iyengar, Prashant Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar, Abhijata Iyengar and regularly with senior teachers in the India, US, UK and Europe.
Sue has taught classes and workshops in USA, UK, Europe and the Caribbean.
